Fasting is natural. It is one of the most effective treatments covering a wide range of disorders. Fasting is a real cleaning device. It purifies and does overhauling of our body. Fasting is the simplest and quist6est method of relieving the body from overloaded food and preventing it from poisoning the system. Fasting once a month or if possible once a week is necessary to keep the body healthy. Fasting should not be confused with starvation. Fasting starvation are two different types of condition. Fasting is constructive where as starvation is destructive. Fasting is the one of the most important and cheapest of all natural remedies. A fast means total abstention from taking any kind of food. There are different types of fast such as fruit fast, juice fast, water fast or half day fast by abstaining from food at one mealtime. Water fast is one of the best fast. It is helpful in reducing weight and cleaning the system. During fast one should observe complete rest. Fasting can be practiced in winter and hot seasons simultaneously. But during winter season, the faster feels uncomfortable because of the dilution of fat under his skin making him feel colder in winter. Fasting should not be observed in the conditions like pregnancy, tuberculosis, diabetes, acute cases of kidney and liver infections, extensively spread cancer, in diseases due to deficiency such as rickets, night-blindness, beriberi, marasmus, scurvy etc. Tea and coffee should be avoided. Only fresh water and juices can be taken. Fasting for 1 to 2 days can be conducted easily but for longer period it should be done under the supervision of a naturopath or an experienced person.
